Project Departure started as a personal idea during a time when the world slowed down and priorities shifted.

This page is not a travel guide, but the story behind the project — how a long-standing passion for travel turned into a blog, a creative outlet, and eventually a plan to pursue a life of full-time travel.

Who I am

I'm Francesca, a globetrotting Italian-British girl who ‘unfortunately’ caught the Travel Bug a few years ago! Don't know what it is? Have a look at my related blog post in here.

Project Departure is my very own Travel Blog. I've always loved designing so at some point during the 2020 pandemic I decided to finally design my own website where I could share with friends, family and of course you all my unstoppable passion for wanderlust.

My aim is to be able to start travelling full time and I'm preparing for the biggest adventure of my life starting hopefully at the end of 2023! Wondering what? Well, for that you will have to subscribe I'm afraid 😌 (2026 spoiler alert, I made it happen!)

How Project Departure Started

Like many, up to a few years ago, I believed that traveling full time was something that could have never been possible to achieve due to the limited time off while working and all the expenses that traveling requires. The pandemic, however, showed us that working remotely is very much possible afterall so why not trying?

Why I Chose to Change My Life

Let's say that all those months of lockdown during 2020, made me realize how quick our life can change and therefore, how important it is for every single one of us to live our life to the fullest every single day. Spend those extra hours with your loved ones, take more time off with your kids, do something different at least once a month, buy that little present for yourself and do the impossible to make every single one of your dreams come as you never know where that thought or idea of yours can take you and what is waiting for you around the corner. What's the worse that can happen after all, right?!

As Lao Tzu said: 'The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step'

The Meaning Behind Project Departure

Project Departure is a space where I share my journey, experiences, and lessons along the way — with the hope of inspiring others to take that first step towards a life they truly want to live. I hope this post will give you that little push you need to take a step towards something you have been waiting to do for a long time. Well, in my case that big step was the start of Project Departure.
